Matt did an interview with Johnny Kats at the rehearsals for Matt’s upcoming show at the Nevada Ballet Show on Saturday 5th May.
Matt will be performing 4 songs, 2 of which are brand new which Matt has never sung live before. They are from Matt’s new upcoming album.

As a quintet of Nevada Ballet Theatre dancers nimbly stretched and lifted one another during an afternoon rehearsal at Reynolds Hall, a silhouetted figure materialized on stage right.

You couldn’t quite make out just who this sauntering gentleman was. Or could you? He was wearing a well-tailored suit and, yep, a fedora.

It was the Gossinator.

Matt Goss is joining the NBT, for a night, during the Las Vegas dance company’s premiere performance Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Smith Center. He is performing four songs of his choosing in a segment NBT Artistic Director James Canfield has aptly titled, “Four Songs.”

Canfield choreographed the pieces. Goss sings the quartet of original numbers, two of which he’s never performed live. The London-born singer/songwriter will be boosted by his burning seven-piece backing band from Caesars Palace and Music Director Ron Fair, who is playing piano and who also happens to be producing Goss’ upcoming album. The songs to be unfurled by Goss, in order, are “Song For You,” “All About The Hang,” “Mustang” and “Evil.”

The latter song, a favorite from Goss’ live show at the Gossy Room at Cleopatra’s Barge, will feature an octet of strings players from the Las Vegas Philharmonic. “All About The Hang,” a jumpy tune that speaks to our undying thirst for great companionship, might well be the title of Goss’s upcoming album. “Mustang,” too, is new. As Goss says from the stage, “It’ about letting someone go who you love and hoping they will come back.”

A half-dozen dancers perform to each number, their moves giving life to Goss’ lyrics.

“It’s really, really intense,” he said.

Goss so effectively immerses himself in Las Vegas institutions and traditions you sometimes forget he does not live here. He’s a resident of Los Angeles, yet eagerly embraces Vegas as if he were born in the city during the heyday of the Rat Pack. His song “Lovely Las Vegas” seamlessly invokes the name of Howard Hughes and references Flamingo Road and Summerlin, as if written by a longtime resident. Always a finely attired representative of Vegas swagger, Goss appeared onstage with the “Jubilee” cast at Bally’s, during that production’s 30th anniversary show last year. Of course, he was also cast in Diddy’s Vegas-fashioned TV commercial hawking that famed Sin City nectar, Ciroc vodka.

The NBT-Smith Center appearance is particularly important for the ballet company and for Goss. It is not only NBT’s first performance at the new performing arts center, but launches its 40th season. The appearance reinforces Goss’ affiliation with the city and allows him to perform in front of nearly 2,000 people (the show is about sold out at last check) who might not venture to the Gossy Room for late-night shows Friday and Saturday.

Goss says he has been blown away by the Smith Center’s architecture and design effects.

“I’m genuinely in awe that every little detail is so deco,” he said Thursday afternoon during an interview in the Reynolds Hall Star Room. “It’s like walking into the ’30s. I walked in and looked at the ceilings and the fixtures, and it’s just insane. Even the trash bins are deco, and you would think they don’t need to spend money on trash bins being deco, but here they have.”

The quality of acoustics, too, impresses Goss.

“I just played Royal Albert Hall (in October), and you come up with a venue like this, and it is world-class, without question,” he said. “Sonically, I think it’s up there with the best venues I’ve played in my life. You can hear every single little nuance, the timbre in your voice, in that venue. It’s immaculate.”

That Goss is performing in Reynolds Hall at such a landmark event is owed to his friendship with Canfield. Goss has attended the past two NBT Black and White Galas (honoring Priscilla Presley and Eva Longoria as its most recent Women of the Year), and Canfield has twice seen Goss perform at Caesars. Originally, the idea was to build an entire performance around the Goss number “Firefly,” but Canfield has instead choreographed the lengthy “Four Songs” piece near the end of the opening performance.

“It’ just a thing where he called and left a message and didn’t think I would call back, but I did,” Goss said. “We ended up having a chat that week. He’s very emotional, in the best way, and he listens to every word in every lyric.”

Away from the performance, Goss and Fair are about two weeks from the midpoint of recording the new Goss album. He’s planning on taking most of the month of June off from performing at Caesars, saying he’s in need of some physical and mental down time.

Last moth, Goss lost his pet bulldog, whom he refers to as “the infamous Alfie.” Alfie was 11 years old when he was put down at Goss’ home two weeks ago.

“He was in my arms when he died at my home, and it was … yeah, super-intense,” Goss said. “It’s strange. The show must go on, but you sometimes feel like— on a personal level, it’s been a challenging few months for me, in several ways. At the end of the day, I am a singer, and that’s the thing that gives me my peace.”

And as the Vegas ballet company has found, marrying that voice to the highest form of dance can be a beautiful thing.

The weekend started early for Matt and Luke. On Thursday it was Matt and Luke’s birthday, and they spent the evening at the recording studio. Luke got to hear Matt’s new single. Then on Friday it was off to Las Vegas. Matt and Luke had a great weekend in The Gossy Room. Matt was surprised by a cake that was presented to him in the middle of his show, followed by a champagne toast with his audience. Then on Sunday Matt flew back to LA and did a lunchtime LIVE performance for The Good News Foundation. So it was a very busy weekend, but a fun one for Matt and Luke.

Matt was on Justin Lee Collins new TV show called Living In Las Vegas. Justin Lee Collins visited The Gossy Room in Las Vegas in May of this year to film his new documentary about what it’s like to live in Las Vegas. As this is a UK TV show, overseas fans weren’t able to watch it. Well now you can! .. Watch Part 1 below …  It is a 2 part documentary, Matt will also be on Part 2 on Wednesday 7th September. Make sure you set your sky boxes to record it!

Chloe Sims from the ITV2 UK Tv Show .. ” The Only Way Is Essex ” was in The Gossy Room on the 26th Aug.  She went to Matt’s show with Steve from VegasBabyUK. Chloe was seen dancing in the VIP area after Matt’s show, and she had a photo taken with Matt & Robin.

Caesars Palace headliner Matt Goss closed the 30th anniversary performance of “Jubilee” with his song “Lovely Las Vegas.”

“Jubilee!” at Bally’s Las Vegas marked its 30-year anniversary last night ( 30th July 2011 ) with a special show featuring new costumes, a touching tribute to long-time company manager Fluff Le Coque and a special encore performance by Matt Goss singing “Lovely Las Vegas”. Matt descended the show’s grand staircase appropriately flanked by the stunning showgirls of the longest-running production show on the Strip.

Matt was a guest at one of Celine Dion’s recent Vegas shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and commented afterwards that not only was she was a total superstar but also a wonderfully warm and kind human being.

Matt will be performing in front of 150,000 Nascars fans at the Las Vegas Speedway on Sunday 6th March 2011. Nascar comes to Las Vegas, and as many of you know Matt’s song called ” LOVELY LAS VEGAS ” has been used for promoting the Nascar event for many months now in USA. So now Matt will get to perform the song LIVE to the Nascar fans.

Matt was performing his Vegas show at PURE Nightclub at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV on December 2, 2010. It was for The VEGAS PLAYER Magazine and VEGAS PLAYER Television Launch Party. The party, which launches the re-branding of Caesars Palace.

On the 6th March 2010, Matt sang the USA National Anthem before the Runnin Rebels Vs Wyoming Cowboys basketball game in Las Vegas.
I have been trying to acquire the video of Matt singing the National Anthem, and Fox 5 TV have now added it to their website for Matt’s fans to see in FULL.

Robin Leach has been a journalist for over 50 years and has spent the last 10 years giving people in Las Vegas all the gossip. He met up with Matt during rehearsals for an interview, some of which you can see below.
Tonight, singers Mel B from the Spice Girls, Leona Lewis and Natasha Bedingfield are expected at the red carpet gala with Strip stars Rita Rudner from Harrah’s, Frank Marino from Imperial Palace and Holly’s World star and Playboy Playmate Laura Croft.
Matt and I sat down to chat yesterday during a rehearsal break, and I asked him how his new lounge compares to The Gossy Room he left two months ago at the Palms. “I love my old room. I think what we did with it, we took that really basic-looking room and turned it into a valid, intimate showroom. So I was very proud of that, obviously. But there are challenges with this room, too, in that it also has a lot of history,” Matt said. “But I am very esthetic-based. I get involved in the way things look. I don’t just turn up and do my thing. We have been really digging in with everyone at Caesars. I think now the room is looking pretty beautiful. I am trying to bring back a genuine place where after I have done my show, I want it to be a destination point where people can really come dressed up and just hang out all night long with me. This room is really starting to feel like the room I wanted. Its challenges with the shape have now become the charm of this room. It has been there forever, people know that, and I want to keep its legend alive and going.”

“Rehearsals are going great. We have people just standing around outside. They can’t see in, but they can hear our music. Every time we finish rehearsals, they’re cheering. It has been great. We have a new English host who will make our guests feel safe and welcomed when they come in. I think people will be a little in awe when they walk in, I feel, a sense of relief that this room exists now. We have made it more decadent. We want to keep the room open. I have got this saying: ‘I want to bring the sun up in The Gossy Room.’ I want people to stay. I want people to come and see the show and have a few drinks and then go, ‘I left The Gossy Room, and the sun is up.’ We want to keep the room going all night.”

Matt had the official opening of his show in Vegas on the 12th Sept 2009. Many guests walked the red carpet, including Debbie Gibson, George Maloof, and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls who did a duet with Matt. They sang ” Feeling Good ” and after the video appeared on YouTube, it was voted the 11th most played video on YouTube. To date it has now had over 20,000 views. Mariah Carey also met up with Matt after his show.
